My name is Sarah, I am the artist and designer behind Bosa Art Co.
I thought it was time for me to say hello again! I have had a lot of new followers and have met a lot of new friends at the Salamanca Market recently. I had an idea that I could give you a list of facts about myself. Here they are:
I'm Canadian!
Eh! I am sorry, but I'm "aboot" to tell you how Canadian I am! Ha ha, to be honest, in about two years' time I will have actually lived in Australia just as long as I lived in Canada!
I was born in northern British Columbia. I have to say, if you have never been, it's one of the most beautiful places on this planet. My dad worked for the railway, and he was always getting promotions upward which meant moving where the job was. I live in a lot of towns across western Canada, even in Saskatchewan (I did love my time there so much).
Eventually, after I moved out of home, I ended up living in Whistler. It was my home for many years. But, love would eventually move me across the world!
Long story, short, I fell in love with a Tasmanian, and followed him home. I have never looked back.
I didn't study art!
I am a creative by nature. I have always enjoyed painting, drawing, colouring, and anything that let me make it up as I went.
I am also dyslexic. The only subjects I did well in at school were Art, Drafting, Shop (Woodwork) and Cooking. I usually excelled in these areas, while struggling in all other classes.
Naturally, since I was good at art, I enjoyed doing it. But it wasn't until my mid 30's that I realised you could have a career in that space! I have no idea why no one ever told me this!
I am a mum of two amazing boys!
I actually named Bosa after them! B is for Billy, O is for Oliver, S is for Sarah(me) and A is for Adam (That Tasmanian I fell in love with 20 years ago).
They are busy boys, as most of them are. Fun, full of beans and they both love sports.
I am not a huge believer in chasing "Work/Life balance". I feel this is an impossible ideal that we have put on ourselves, especially mothers. Some days its more life, others its more work. Some days life doesn't give you a choice on the matter. But I think, in my case, I feel like I am winning most days since I have the flexibility to take them to school myself, pick them up and take them to all the sports they want. This is important to me and I am achieving this!
I love LOVE Tasmania!
As I mentioned above, I moved a lot when I was young. But I never felt like I was home. Even in Saskatchewan, I had found the most amazing girlfriends and I loved the lifestyle, it still didn't feel like home.
But, when my feet hit the ground in Tasmania, it was an instant I'm home feeling. It is hard to explain, but you know it when you know it!
I have lived on the island for about 19 years now. I haven't seen every nook and cranny, but what I have seen, I love!
I wouldn't live anywhere else! Tassie is my home. I would like to say I am Tasmanian.
